Airbnb Chef for Saratoga & Lake George Rentals

An Airbnb chef cooks in the kitchen of the house you rented, so the first night at the lake or the track starts with dinner on the table instead of a grocery run. Book one meal or several across your stay, anywhere from Saratoga Springs to Bolton Landing.

Arrival-night dinner from an Airbnb chef

The first night of a rental is the one that goes sideways. You've driven up from New Jersey, Connecticut or the city, the fridge is empty, everyone's hungry and the grocery store is back the way you came. Book a chef for that night. The chef shops before you get there, arrives around check-in, and has dinner on the table while you unpack and walk down to the dock.

Give the chef your check-in time and an honest arrival window. Traffic on the Northway on a summer Friday has a mind of its own, so a menu that can hold for an hour (a braise, a grill menu, a big tray of pasta) is smarter than anything that has to hit the table the minute it's done. If the host can't let the chef in before you arrive, plan dinner for about an hour after check-in and let the chef cook while you settle.

Multi-day chef bookings for a lake house or race-week rental

For a week on Lake George or a stretch of the Saratoga meet, many groups book a chef for several meals instead of one. A common pattern:

  • An arrival-night dinner
  • Brunch the morning after a late night
  • A cookout on the deck grill
  • A plated last-night dinner as the send-off

Between visits, ask about stocking breakfasts and lunches so the group can fend for itself. You'll agree on the schedule, menus and how groceries are handled with your chef before the trip. If it's a family reunion or a group of couples, one person should own the headcount and dietary list so the chef isn't fielding texts from eight people. Groceries for the whole stay are usually bought per meal, so nothing spoils in a fridge that's also holding three coolers of drinks.

What a chef needs from a vacation rental kitchen

Rental kitchens range from fully stocked to two pans and a dull knife. Most chefs bring their own knives and tools, but they'll ask about:

  • The stove and oven: how many burners, gas or electric, one oven or two
  • Plates, glasses and serving platters for your full headcount
  • Fridge space for groceries on cook days
  • A working grill, and whether there's propane
  • Parking, the door code and check-in time

The easiest thing you can do is send the listing link and any kitchen photos when you request a quote. A chef who knows the kitchen ahead of time plans a menu that suits it.

Telling your Airbnb host about a private chef

Read the house rules first. Most hosts are fine with a chef cooking for guests, but plenty of listings limit how many people can be on the property or ban parties, and a chef and server count for a few hours. A short message covers it: the date, the chef's arrival and departure times, and that the kitchen will be left clean. If people who aren't on the booking are joining for dinner, say so. That's the part hosts care about.

If the rental is managed by an agency rather than an individual owner, ask the agency the same question. Some keep a list of chefs they've had in their houses before; you can still bring your own.

Booking an Airbnb chef in Saratoga and Lake George

Summer rental weeks book early on both ends. Saratoga's track season runs roughly mid-July to Labor Day, and our race season guide covers timing and what to plan for. On the lake, July and August weeks fill first, with fall foliage weekends right behind them. Fourth of July week and Americade in June are the busiest stretches on the lake, and Travers week is the busiest in Saratoga. If your rental lands on one of those, ask for a chef the week you book the house.

We arrange chefs for rentals in Saratoga Springs, and around Lake George. Celebrating something? See the bachelorette party chef page. Call (518) 765-7832 or send the form with the rental's town, your dates and how many meals you want covered.

Private chef FAQs

Can a private chef cook in an Airbnb kitchen?

Yes. Most rental kitchens work fine for a chef as long as there's a working stove and oven and enough plates for the group. Send the listing link and the chef can tell you what, if anything, to bring.

Do I need to tell my Airbnb host I'm hiring a chef?

It's a good idea, and it's required if outside guests are joining or the listing caps the number of people on the property. A short message with the date and the chef's arrival and departure times is usually enough.

Does the chef bring their own equipment?

Most chefs bring their own knives and a few key tools, and some bring pans for rentals with thin cookware. Confirm with your chef once they've seen the listing.

Can the chef have dinner ready when we arrive?

Often, if the chef can get into the house before you. That depends on your check-in time and on the host allowing access, so ask the host first and share the arrangement with your chef.
